"Bill Ackman with his itchiest Twitter fingers couldn’t craft an outraged response to her meeting with doctors who risked their lives to help others."

Nice sentence! An itchy twitter finger is a phrase that needed to be born

I hope she doesn't lose, but I do think Harris is a loser, like she was in 2020 - and like Biden also was in the 2020 primary until The Ancients stepped in. Our moment calls for someone to be bold and imaginative, and she doesn't seem like that (I would LOVE to be wrong). She needs to put her foot down re: Biden and his unfathomably moronic Neocon war part 2, but it looks like she's actually doing the opposite, as Tana says. Not looking good.

Democratic politicians and political people refuse to see that, for many, voting for Trump is mainly a rebuke of THEM. Trump can say or do anything and never lose political support. Why is that? Because people are voting against a failing establishment. And the Democrats' brilliant strategy to deal with this disillusionment with establishment? TO DESPERATELY CLEAVE TO ESTABLISHMENTARIANISM; to become more establishment than thou; to be militantly, fetishistically establishment. It's so stupid, so inept, I feel the need to pretend to be another species, like Americans supposedly pretend to be Canadian when they travel (as if that were a lot better!).

I'm done with Democrats at the national level. But those of you who aren't done with them need to rise up. You, not Biden, Harris, et. al., are the party. These leaders do not care what you want or need, and you have to either make them care, or make them pay. Vote Blue No Matter Who is foolish, not to mention chickenshit. Democrats sneer at GOP voters, but at least the latter get what they want, politically.

Yes exactly. Republican voters get what they want. It's like Democrats now live in the funhouse mirror version of "what's the matter with Kansas." I also hope she wins, Trump would be Hell, but I'm not voting for her in a solid blue state. This shit has to end. And I know this is pie in the sky but if Democrats are sent a message, isn't it just maybe possible that someone like AOC might emerge at the national level (not perfect! And will surely bow to the establishment in many ways! But clearly at least some moral compass is there.

I love your pieces and agree with so much, maybe all of what you're legitimately angry about here but, and there is only one but...when you have a choice between two things, and one is going to destroy the country, is an existential threat to democracy and morality, and the other is severely wrong about some of the shit she does (doesn't do), you have no choice but to help the one that will at least keep the country out of the hands of the purveyors of project 2025. You can protest and rant once that singular cataclysmic threat is behind us. Do you honestly believe that the Palestinians will be better off if fucking trump wins? Tana...prioritize because if he wins you'll have much bigger problems than how the US enables bibi.

Thank you! I appreciate it.

I'm registered in New York. My vote in national elections literally has no impact, unless in this case it's withheld to send a message to Democrats. As far as the threat to Democracy, I'd say another danger to Democracy is, Democrats, for the entire time I've been able to vote, running on "The other guy is worse so you better vote for us."

If you think about it this dynamic has shifted the Overton Window on a host of issues, especially immigration, where Reagan seems like a fucking hippie compared to Democrats today.

It's not like I need for Harris to be a perfect human and a perfect politician who fully aligns with all of my not-very-common values outside of Brooklyn. But her positioning or lack-there-of on a genocide is not only aneathma to me but I think shows very vile aspects of her moral character that I think would fully impact her stance on every other issue she touches. Trump and his weird incel psycho followers are not going to destroy American democracy, there are too many stop-gaps in place. I frankly find that fear bizarre. What does that even look like? Dude is going to die in the next 5-to-10 years tops. Vance is a soulless striver, he has no interest in destroying a system that gave him endless rewards.

I mean ... watch the documentary I cite if you can stomach it. I cannot cast a vote for anyone who's in a position to do something but won't.

I think you're great and spot on about a lot, but I strongly disagree with a few of your points. First, your vote surely doesn't matter but people who read your pieces live in places where their votes do count. They respect you and will say, shit, if Tana isn't voting, I don't need to. Next, you're contention that there are stop gaps to prevent their plan is really foolish. It reminds me of the climate deniers that would say it isn't man caused so there's no need to worry. Yeah, they might be right but they're fucking playing with fire, as are you suggesting that trump and vance couldn't fucking blow this thing up. You might be right, but I seriously doubt you are and why even go there. The whole fucking point is that we need to do everything to eliminate these assholes and a cavalier attitude of What could happen, is truly crazy. Read what the Weimar politicians thought as hitler worked his way into power. Same shit, they felt there was no way he and his insane assholes could destroy their system. Bottom line, better to be a little overly cautious than to be foolishly unconcerned. These fuckers are crazy and will burn it down and even if they don't fully succeed, the amount of damage they're going to inflict on your generation and the ones behind you is horrifying. Shit, I don't have to give a fuck personally, I'm 63, white, male. I'm pretty safe. But I care about my daughter, my nieces and nephews and the whole goddamn society. Sorry to go off on you but we need all the chicken little we can get right now. Keep up the great work.
