One person's story of an excruciating month-long withdrawal from a heavy fentanyl habit. "Thirty days until I started to feel whatever the fuck normal is."
My story is very much like Matt's except that I'm a little further along in recovery and a lot further along in healing. I'd love to likewise share a motivating story of what can happen along that path but I don't have any audience so it's a lot like talking to myself in the mirror....oh well; someday.
Excellent article and great job explaining how fentanyl is lipophilic and why the withdrawal symptoms take longer to manifest. I’ve seen patients test positive for fentanyl three weeks after not using. Unfortunately there really aren’t any good protocols readily available for doctors to transition patients from fentanyl to Suboxone.
I’m afraid now that any doctor can prescribe Suboxone that the transition from fentanyl will be even worse initially for some patients.
Really great post and gave me tons of insight! I'm hoping that you make this one public so that I can forward it along! (And would be happy to add to my subscription to make it so!)
I’m just a little confused . In another post the quick clearance of fentanyl was highlighted as for why it’s so great in surgery and why people add xylazine on the street. This post talks about its being stored in fat tissue. Is that only with long term repeated use?
Correct. The difference is: Repeated dosing over long periods (of weird street analogues) vs one measured/observed dose in clinical setting. Plus, everybody metabolizes opioids very differently regardless of drug’s innate properties. Drugs are weird!
Im 2 days in and am going crazy, my stomach is in a knot, my legs are going crazy, i havent slept at all and feel like my hearts going to explode or stop... Anything you could recommend to help get through it??

Let’s talk!
yes...let's. But how?

thanks! I have to stay on top of these things for my students!
Behold, the CCP's latest weapon of mass destruction.

Jeez I'm really sorry. I'm not a doctor... No one has to feel this pain! There's definitely medicine out there that can help.
