Yes, We are the empire in decline. It’s like we are a loaded gun and every bullet in the magazine is worse than the last one. It doesn’t matter if we change guns, bullets or magazines we invested in this gun and ammo that is over 200+ years old. All of it was made in a factory by the same people so long ago there is nothing else but an endless supply of lies. We cannot use anything else because we only invested in guns and bullets to fix all problems. I just got finished with the book “the Indigenous History of America” and it blew my socks off. I know American history very well but this book really got me. The book absolutely solidified the facts that our military, which is now the most expensive and technologically advanced useless turd in the world raised to its heights by sharpened its blades on the Natives in every land it now occupies. The entire military and its strategies come from whipping the natives off the plane. The exact same advancement in finance, banking, and real estate followed right behind, cashing out on dead kids, women, elderly natives and the survivors were starved, poisoned, raped, beaten, and forced into debt. This is so easy to see when looking at Palestine, what the State of Israel is doing what America did to the natives. The most powerful nation on earth is using all of its power exterminating the poorest people on the planet. If you have any friends who wondered what they would have done during Slavery or Civil Rights, well we are doing it today. Probably the most absurd thing is that any person currently groveling for power that declares this to stop would win all the votes in an election right now and despite that no one in the current government leadership has the will or means do do so... this is when the wall falls in west Germany, this is when the elites are sold to other nations interests, this is when the American people are left to fend for themselves, industry collapse, money vanishes, mass starvation spreads. We did this to ourselves by believing in lies that were never true to prop up murderers, thieves and crooks.

Andrew Sullivan went further even than (somewhat loveable, at least) slime-ball Hitch: he said we who opposed the Iraq invasion were "objective fifth-columnists." I.e., traitors.
In the 60s we protested to try to make our government stop fighting an amoral war. Today our government should stop sending weapons to the Middle East but beyond that, I haven’t heard what it’s supposed to do to stop a war it isn’t fighting. I’m open to all suggestions for how the US can make Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah, et al stop killing each other.
Christopher Hitchens and his right-wing brother Peter disagreed on nearly everything, including the Iraq War. The former ironically supported it on "humanitarian" grounds (an utterly oxymoronic idea which would be funny if it weren't so tragic) while the latter opposed it on "national interest" grounds. And sure enough, the latter brother ended up on the right side of history, and also outlived the former brother as well. A stopped clock can be right twice a day.
