We need a more data-driven approach. Let's drill down to the aftermath of crimes directly affected by bail reform laws. Did those crimes go up, while crimes that haven't been affected by bail reform not gone up, or not gone up as much?

Additionally there is one other data question to ask. Was the individual that committed a violent crime (that wouldn't be affected by bail reform laws) free to do so because he had committed a lesser crime whose penalty was reduced by bail reform laws?

I haven't drilled down the data but anecdotally yeah, I think it's often they committed a lesser crime. The Wekausha killer especially — his bail had literally nothing to do with bail reform. Because he had attacked a woman with his car and not a firearm his most serious charge wasn't even DV related and all but one of the DV-related charges were misdemeanors. This was done according to the bail schedule which had not been reformed.
