In a twitter thread, former San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin explained why he’s not running for district attorney in 2022. “Over the past weeks I've spoken to family, friends, supporters and everyday San Franciscans about how we can best continue to make our criminal justice system fairer and more effective,” he wrote. “I have devoted my public life to this effort because it makes our communities stronger & safer.” He added that he needs to focus on his father, wife and small son.
Those doing drugs in the streets and selling drugs to survive. Are Drug Addicts. They need a Drug Program. Not Shot, or sent to prison or made a Mockery out of. A Drug Program. Under a Drug Counselor order's. Those who prefer to go to jail, a few more times, before they learn They don't have to Live like that should be Accommodated. Coming from someone who went the wrong way for 20-yrs.Now have 25-yrs Clean. I been there. Don't give up on Nobody.
The only part of this that I don’t agree with is that the ghouls “broke” Chesa. I believe they’ve strengthened his resolve. I hope he does take the time to address all the family issues which he mentioned in his Twitter thread. He deserves and has earned all the support we can give him. I hope and believe that Chesa will be working in and continuing to lead our movement.

But assuming things get worse, don't expect them to admit they're wrong. They'll just argue for even more arrests, more sentencing, more prisons.
